: ::: what is the highest price paid for a single rave flyer? I suppose this only really counts for ebay sales as private sales are not on record.
:
: :: Id imagine it will be the early sunrise ones. Ive heard some of them changing hands for over 50 quid.
:
: yes, in May 2004 a Sunrise "A Midsummer Nights Dream (24 Jun 89) sold on ebay for 51.00 (the multicolour one, not the pre-flyer) - condition wasn't mentioned - one in only Good condition went for 28 pounds a few days ago
:
: very pleasing to see it appreciated, cos this an all-time favourite of mine - i reckon there's something quite magical about it (see link below)...
:
: ...tho it's probably not the "best" flyer ever (some of the early 90s US West Coast flyers are fabulous), nor the most collectible (most collectors want a Dreamscape 1 in their collection - speaking of which, one sold for 51.00 in March 2004, tho the average (median) price they go for on ebay is about 15.00)
:
: there's been a couple of offers of over 50 quid for early UK flyers on the message board, but i guess that doesn't count
:
: for consistent high values, Shoom 'hearts' usually go for 20-30 quid - cept the one i got, which no one else bid on :))
:
: ::: Ive seen a Fantazia from scotland go for about £48
:
: price guide has 46 quid for Fantazia, Club Tour III (Prodigy) (Glasgow) (31 Oct 92) from an eBay sale in Nov 04
:
: ::: and those sunrise flyers are fetching nice prices for the seller at the moment.
:
: it's been good seeing so many of them coming up for sale in the last month
:
: :: The Fantazia Australia ones are also very collectable (not many going around) and Ive heard of them going for similar amounts.
:
: : Yeah Ive seen some of those Fantazia OZ flyers go for over £30.
:
: i can't remember what prices they went for on ebAy - will keep a look out for more (i'm still about 3 months behind on the price guide, so i may come across them yet)
:
: the Oz Fantazias i know about are "The First Taste - Into 94" (Sydney, 31 Dec 93), "1994 World Tour" (Adelaide, 24 April 94), and "The Second Sight" (Sydney, 8 Oct 94) - (there's also a Fantazia Enterprises flyer "See It And Believe" (Perth, 13 Feb 93, LTJ Bukem, Donovan Smith, RatPack) but it's not the UK Fantazia) - anyone know of any more?
:
: : -what flyer is the rarest
:
: probably a one-off map hand-drawn by the organiser giving directions to an illegal party :)
:
: : or worth the most?
:
: the first Sunrise? (if it exists)
:
: tho American collectors would probably pay whatever it takes for early US flyers
:
: not what i'd call rave flyers, but some of last year's giant Ibiza posters sold well (i think one winning bid was 100 quid) - and 80s Hacienda flyers attract a lot of attention, but often that's cos they're also featuring live bands
:
: any other suggestions?

I had been chasing the first ever Hard Times flyer from Mirfield since April 94 ( The 1st flyer was from August 93) I started going to the club 7 months after it opened and cornered the promoter and his girlfriend (Steve Raine and Donna) on a few occasions asking for info on this flyer, as well as people in the club (after having a few disco biscuits!) but to no avail. I advertised in the local paper where the club was based and e mailed everyone that i could, as well as visiting 106 Hudds Rd Mirfield and asking them to look under floorboards, storerooms and generally any cracks that an old flyer could be trapped in ( 106 Hudds Rd is now the Salvos) still no luck, so i nearly gave up. I had never even seen this flyer and noone could tell me what it looked like ((Steve Raine was cabbaged a lot of the time) (until the HT 10th birthday that rehashed the original 1st flyer, so i finally got a butchers) The club regularly had 2000 to 2500 people in it (although in the first 3 weeks the clubbers were thin on the ground till the word spread) and was mixmags club of the year in 1994, so it was quite popular. Just a couple of weeks ago i managed to pick this flyer up in a Hacienda bundle from a chap that was emigrating and i couldnt believe my luck, as this was a well visited club but not nearly as big as the Dreamscapes (i think, for punters)and other rave clubs around near the time, and this flyer must have been handed out in the town centre of Hudds or Mirfield in small amounts (my brother lives 50 yards from the club, and has done since 1989 and he never saw this flyer) as well as all my clubbing mates from Hudds regularly picking up flyer bundles in the town centre, never seeing it as well, so i think that this may be one of the rarest flyers around, its a substantial thickness and glossy, not just a piece of paper and i have seen a few early Monroes, Cream, Hacienda, Dreamscapes etc on e bay, but no 1st Hard Times flyer, although i realise that its a matter of taste/who wants to bother to collect it, but a lot of people visited this club, so i assumed that there would be more available/around than this one flyer ( if you know what i mean) but there aint, does anyone out there know of another?. Just like i told my main man weed, its an act of attrition and my 11 years of hunting and lying in wait finally paid off and i still cant believe that i attained this, and i still have a loving gaze at it every couple of days, wouldnt sell it for £500... Phewwww, glad to have spat all that out!!!
