i'm nowhere near being an expert, but like many others have had to deal with the same questions myself in the past

: I do have a scanner, but how do you take a copy of an A3 size flyer?

many people use a digital camera to photograph flyers when selling on ebay cos it's easy for casual pics, but it's hard to line up the flyers so you don't get a perspective view, and there's problems with contrast and colour and reflected light etc, so often the pics are low quality

for better quality pics a scanner is generally much easier

if you only have an A4 scanner and you want to scan in an A3 flyer, then you need to scan in both halves separately - these can be joined together using any decent graphics program - tho one of the problems is that the colours of the two edges to be joined may not exactly match up (cos scans are not identical copies of the original) so some merging has to be done - but there should be tools in the graphics program to help with this

: is there a programme or editing device I can use to shrink the flyer picture size

most graphics programs have the option to resize images either by percentage or by defining the new width and height in pixels - a pixel can be thought of as a single dot on the screen (most web pages are designed for a screen 800 pixels wide by 600 high)

Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro are probably the best known programs for manipulating scanned and photographic images on home and office computers (as opposed to specialist graphics workstations)

Graphics Workshop, as well as doing basic image manipulation, is especially useful for converting images from one graphics format to another
