Frequently Asked QuestionsHere is a brief explanation of some of the questions you may have about WWWBoard, which is the message board currently being used by raveflyers.co.uk
Why am I asked for a User Name and Password before posting a message?
The script is password protected in order to prevent automatic spamming of the message board. The User Name is rave and the Password is flyers - you can see this in the password entry box. Why can't I see the message I've just posted?
You are probably looking at the old version of the page, which has been stored in your computer's memory. Try refreshing the page, using one of the following methods -
Why has my message been deleted? Most of the deletions are for posts that are spam or off-topic - this includes abuse and personal attacks. Please use other forums for messages to do with vinyl, tapes, videos, cds, dvds etc. If you think your message has been unreasonably deleted, or if you feel a message should be deleted, please let me know. Can I put html tags anywhere in my posts? No. You can't use HTML tags in any of the fields. The script throws out anything in < >. How do I add a link to my post? Write in the text you want to appear for the link in the "Link Text" box (immediately below the "Message" box), and put the full web address of the page you want to link to in the "Optional Link URL" box. Make sure the address starts with "http://". It is best to copy and paste long addresses, such as those for individual eBay pages. Why are there colons in the message when I try to post a follow-up? Colons at the start of lines are used to indicate that lines from previous messages are being quoted. Why didn't my reply get nested properly? There were definitely some bugs in the old script. An updated script from nms was installed in November 2003. Hopefully this problem has now been solved. Why don't some follow-ups appear on the main message board page? Two reasons: i) the admin program deletes messages from the board but does not remove the follow-up links within the messages (these have to be removed manually), and ii) programs which automate the posting of spam to message boards sometimes fail to access the main page (the script was modified in April 2004 to try and prevent automatic submissions). Where can I get the scripts for this program? The scripts are written in Perl and were originally created by Matt Wright. The programs currently being used are updates written by the nms project.
